What is Copyright?
The US Copyright Law provides the photographer the exclusive right to control and authorize the reproduction, distribution or public display of his photographs. End-users of copyrighted material have the legal responsibility to obtain permission to use the work before doing so. This permission is granted with a usage license from the copyright holder.What is a License?
A usage license is merely a simple written contract that grants limited rights to use an image to someone else in exchange for money or services. Under most circumstances the images are not actually sold but are leased with a licensing agreement. The company paying for the photo is the "licensee of record." Keep your invoice, it is your only proof that you have legally obtained the rights to use this photo.Restrictions on These Photographs
